Coach, Teacher, Mentor.

In each of her professional roles, Betsey’s work is deeply influenced not only by her years of experience, elite performance, and education, but also by her desire to both support and enrich her client’s individual and collective experiences. Her work is vastly integrated and draws from each of her disciplines and life’s pursuits.

As an Olympic Champion and Silver Medalist, Betsey served as the starting goalkeeper for the USA Women’s Water Polo Team for almost a decade, from 2006-2014. During her tenure in the cage, the team took home its first ever gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games and earned silver at the 2008 Beijing Games. In addition to winning multiple World Championships, Pan American Games gold medals, and a FINA World Cup, Betsey was named the FINA Female Water Polo Player of the Year in 2010.

A native to Ann Arbor, Michigan, Betsey grew up playing water polo in the Midwest. Attending college in her hometown, she graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in English Literature and concentrated coursework in Art History and Italian. As a four time All-American, Betsey led the Wolverine’s to earning two CWPA conference championships, and appearances in the 2002 NCAA Final Four Tournament, and the 2005 NCAA Championship Tournament.

After retiring from her water polo career in 2014, Betsey immediately dived back into the classroom, pursuing knowledge in subjects she had found interesting useful during her time as a professional athlete—such as health sciences and psychology.

Currently, Betsey lives in the Hudson Valley nestled just a few hours north of New York City with her husband and two young boys. She teaches yoga both in her community and to athletes and sports teams. She works as a youth athlete mentor with Rise Athletes, and as a water polo coach both independently and with USA Water Polo. Betsey has a wide range of clients that are interested not only in fitness, wellness, yoga, and support with their athletic endeavors, but also those who are interested in using such pursuits as a means to explore themselves, cultivate self-knowledge, and use these platforms to navigate their experiences. She is thrilled to support and teach them along this journey.
